Purpose, Mindset and Personal Charter

ALEX LANGAT January 8, 2026 Personal Charter

Reflection

This exercise helped me recognize that I sometimes focus on finding a solution too quickly instead of fully understanding the problem first. It reminded me that good innovation begins with curiosity, thoughtful questions, and a willingness to challenge my own assumptions. I want to become more intentional about seeking different perspectives, listening carefully, and making decisions based on evidence rather than confidence alone.

The thinking habit I most need to watch is rushing to a solution before I have gathered enough information. My most important commitment is to pause, ask open-ended questions, gather evidence, and consider different viewpoints before deciding on a course of action. Although this may be challenging, I believe it will help me make better decisions and become a more effective innovator.

Practising these behaviours will strengthen my work by making my ideas more evidence-based, practical, and responsive to people's real needs. It will also improve how I collaborate with others by encouraging active listening, mutual respect, and continuous learning.

In the coming week, I will apply my Charter whenever I discuss ideas or work on a project with others. I will know I have lived up to my Charter if I ask thoughtful questions before offering solutions, listen without interrupting, consider different perspectives, and make decisions based on evidence rather than assumptions. I will also reflect afterward on what I learned and how my thinking changed so I can continue improving as an innovative thinker.
