Purpose, Mindset and Personal Charter
Reflection
I joined HIP Dev because I want to grow as an entrepreneur and gain the knowledge, connections, and experience needed to build my venture and create meaningful impact in my community. Through this Charter exercise, I recognised that I tend to pressure myself to find answers quickly rather than taking time to explore when uncertain, and I also tend to believe that if I strongly believe in an idea, other people will automatically see its value. The innovative thinker I want to become is someone who asks questions before making assumptions, listens actively to others' perspectives, and responds with curiosity when challenged or contradicted. My Charter commits me to specific behaviours: looking for evidence that proves my explanation wrong, asking for other people's opinions, and listening without interrupting before deciding whether I agree. The most important behaviour I want to practise is listening to people's perspectives who know more than I do, since questioning my assumptions is where I face the greatest difficulty. This coming week, when I'm making decisions about my idea and discussing my product and business strategies, I will apply this principle. I'll know I'm making progress when I ask myself whether I have evidence to support my statements and when I ask questions before making decisions while considering other people's perspectives.
