Reflection
I joined HIP Dev because proper planning, development, and coaching from experienced entrepreneurs will guide me to make informed first moves in the health entrepreneurship ecosystem. Through this exercise, I recognized that I tend to assume everyone will be ready to take care of solutions I offer, without first examining whether my ideas are truly tested or proven. The innovative thinker I want to become is someone who examines ideas holistically and carefully challenges them, proving beyond doubt that they can work before moving forward. My Charter commits me to specific behaviours: checking with people unaware of my idea to get honest opinions, conducting research through randomized trials, and holding off making decisions until I'm convinced the evidence is complete and beyond reasonable doubt. The behaviour I most want to practise is testing a product or service with consumers first before launching it. This coming week, when planning a pilot project, I need to follow this Charter to carry out a productive pilot that tests the market for my venture. I will know I'm making progress when I document things down so I can review what steps I missed, and when I demonstrate that I'm continuing to follow each charter step while executing it. This commitment will help me tackle eye health ecosystem challenges across Africa by offering comprehensive eyecare services to marginalized communities.
