Purpose, Mindset and Personal Charter
Reflection
I joined HIP Dev because I want to participate in innovation and creating products and services that help people, rather than staying only in the classroom. Through this Charter exercise, I recognized that I tend to postpone or procrastinate when I encounter difficult things or uncertainty, and I noticed an assumption I need to watch: that if something doesn't work out, it means it's a complete failure. The kind of thinker I intend to become is someone who sees plans through, executes strategy, and solves problems and implements solutions. My Charter commits me to specific behaviours like actively listening without listening to respond, checking for contradicting evidence, researching to find actual facts, and reviewing unsuccessful attempts with my mentors rather than treating them as failures. The most important commitment for me to practice is learning from failures and not letting them become a barrier. This coming week, I intend to use this when looking for feedback on how to handle the trial phase and extract insights to apply. Evidence of my progress will be the feedback itself, using my current network and mentors to figure out what type of action to take next. Taking pressure off to always perform at my best will help me be more open to asking for guidance from others.
