Purpose, Mindset and Personal Charter

Reflection

I joined HIP Dev to sharpen my thinking as an innovator and builder, so that DxTiba would be shaped by solid judgment rather than enthusiasm. Through this exercise, I recognized that I often seek confirmation rather than genuine feedback, and that deadline pressure tends to justify moving forward before testing my assumptions. I ask confirmation-seeking questions that expect a yes rather than genuinely inviting pushback. The kind of innovative thinker I want to become is someone who asks clarifying questions before offering solutions, seeks out evidence that challenges my direction, and adjusts course based on what I learn from people closer to the problem. My Charter commits me to specific behaviours: repeating back what others say before responding, asking someone directly what would change their mind, and naming the specific gap in evidence out loud before deciding. The behaviour I most want to practise is naming that gap in evidence before deciding, especially under deadline pressure when it's easiest to skip. When I next discuss the DxTiba pitch deck with a mentor or advisor, I will ask what they think the weakest part of the framing is, rather than asking if it looks good. I will know I'm making progress when I receive specific critical feedback rather than a general "looks good" or no response.
