Purpose, Mindset and Personal Charter

Reflection

I joined the HIP Development Challenge to scientifically validate, refine, and scale my natural cosmetics brand using advanced laboratory facilities, technical mentorship, and regional networks to meet strict safety, quality, and efficacy benchmarks. Through this Charter exercise, I recognized that I tend to jump into solution mode based on past successes, assuming my first working fix is best instead of testing alternatives or double-checking underlying data. Sometimes I move fast on quick intuition rather than pausing to separate facts from assumptions and stay open to different perspectives. The innovative thinker I want to become asks targeted questions, breaks problems down step-by-step, listens without interrupting, weighs new perspectives against facts before deciding, and consistently tests small ideas before scaling them. My Charter commits me to specific behaviours: actively seeking counterarguments, practicing active listening, tracing information to verified primary sources, pausing to identify missing data before committing to solutions, and conducting root-cause analysis when attempts fail. The behaviour I most want to practise is pausing when data is incomplete, as my natural drive is to solve problems quickly, yet this pause is essential to prevent costly mistakes. This coming week, I'll apply this when refining product formulations, systematically verifying ingredients and data rather than relying on quick assumptions. I'll track my progress through written reflection logs, clear documentation of verified data, and feedback from collaborators on how thoroughly I tested my ideas.
