Purpose, Mindset and Personal Charter
Reflection
I joined HIP Dev because I want to solve real-world problems by creating practical and sustainable solutions that improve people's lives, and I recognized I need to strengthen my innovative thinking to identify opportunities where others see challenges. Through this exercise, I realized the importance of analyzing, critically evaluating, and considering different perspectives and information before drawing conclusions. I noticed a tendency in myself to make assumptions before gathering all necessary information, which I want to change by developing the discipline to question my initial beliefs and seek evidence.
The kind of thinker I intend to become is someone who seeks clarity by consulting others and the internet, asks questions to understand processes fully, listens to different perspectives as useful information, and uses evidence to inform decisions. My Charter commits me to specific behaviours: seeking alternative perspectives, verifying information from multiple reliable sources, listening without interrupting, asking clarifying questions, and delaying decisions until I have sufficient evidence. The behaviour I most want to practise is resisting the urge to make quick conclusions by gathering sufficient evidence, listening to different perspectives, and carefully evaluating information before deciding.
In the coming week, I intend to use my Charter when making decisions for my business by gathering sufficient information and basing decisions on evidence rather than assumptions. Evidence that I'm making progress will be seeing progress in my work, making well-informed decisions, avoiding unnecessary mistakes, and receiving positive outcomes from careful analysis.
