Purpose, Mindset and Personal Charter
Reflection
I joined the HIP Development Challenge because of its strong reputation for developing entrepreneurs and supporting the commercialisation of DigestAid through mentorship, business development, and valuable networks. Working through my Personal Charter helped me recognise that I naturally approach new information with curiosity, but I have a tendency to become too confident in my initial assumptions without actively seeking alternative perspectives or evidence that may challenge them. I want to become an innovative thinker who asks thoughtful questions, gathers evidence before deciding, listens without interrupting, and adapts when contradicted rather than becoming rigid in my approach.
My Charter commits me to specific behaviours: listening without interrupting, asking clarifying questions, acknowledging what I do and do not know, and treating unsuccessful attempts as feedback for refinement. The behaviour I most want to practise is consistently challenging my own assumptions and actively seeking evidence that may disconfirm my initial views, as this requires discipline despite the ease of accepting familiar interpretations.
During the HIP Development Challenge, I intend to apply this by intentionally seeking feedback and questioning my own assumptions when developing solutions for DigestAid. I will know I am making progress when I actively seek feedback, ask thoughtful questions, consider different perspectives, and adapt my thinking when new information justifies it.
