Microfranchising adapts some of the principles of franchising to create opportunities that are accessible to individuals and communities with limited resources. Rather than requiring participants to invent a completely new business, microfranchise models provide structured ways to participate in product distribution, sales, service delivery, or other economic activities. for example, a successful startup in Ghana may choose to work with somebody in Kenya to set up a micro franchise of their business in order to gain multi-country access to markets. The model allows for innovators or entrepreneurs to work together across the continent to establish working models and expand opportunities without reinventing the wheel. HIP may expose participants to microfranchise opportunities as one possible pathway toward income generation and community development.
