Low-Cost Automated Slide Stainer

Low-Cost Automated Slide Stainer (LASS) is a health technology innovation designed to automate the laboratory slide staining process, making diagnostic services more efficient, accurate, and accessible in resource-limited healthcare settings. By reducing manual intervention, LASS improves the consistency and quality of slide preparation while helping laboratories save time and increase throughput. The system supports multiple staining protocols, including Malaria, Gram stain, Ziehl–Neelsen, and Pap smear, making it suitable for a wide range of diagnostic applications. LASS also integrates digital health technologies, including artificial intelligence capabilities, to enhance laboratory workflows and support better clinical decision-making. Our mission is to strengthen diagnostic capacity across Africa by providing affordable, reliable, and locally developed laboratory automation that improves patient outcomes and expands access to quality healthcare.
