Tahsma Healthcare is a mission-driven healthtech venture that gives Kenyans access to medicine and healthcare services through a SHA-aligned Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) credit model. We complement the government's efforts by filling the critical gaps in the current health system, ensuring that no one has to choose between food and medicine. Kenya faces a healthcare affordability crisis. Fewer than one in five Kenyans have any form of health insurance. Even for those who are covered, many remain underinsured, still paying out-of-pocket for medicines and services they thought were covered. Out-of-pocket expenses now account for 26% of total health expenditure, pushing nearly 1.5 million Kenyans into poverty each year. Faced with these costs, patients are forced to ration medication, take half-doses, or delay care entirely turning treatable conditions into emergencies and contributing to 8,500 deaths from drug-resistant infections in 2019 alone. Tahsma Healthcare bridges this gap through a three-pillar approach. First, we provide dynamic, progressive BNPL credit limits that start small and grow with repayment history scaling to over KES 20,000 for chronic patients. This ensures patients get their full prescription immediately, without rationing or skipping doses. Second, we offer online consultations that remove travel costs and lost wages by connecting patients to specialists 70% of whom are concentrated in Nairobi from anywhere in Kenya. Third, we guarantee real-time stock availability and provide doorstep pharmacy delivery, eliminating the common problem of "out of stock" at local chemists. We are already live and making a tangible difference with over 850 active users, a 10% conversion rate, and just 1% churn across three active delivery zones. Our strategic partnership with Kenyatta University Health Centre has been instrumental in building trust and validating our model. In July 2026, Tahsma Healthcare was among the top 10 finalists and won the Global Health Security category at AfyaFest 2026 in Dakar, Senegal; the premier pan-African health innovation festival hosted by the Africa Health Collaborative. Our team brings together deep expertise across healthcare and technology. Teddy Jeremy, our Founder and CEO, is a software developer driving our product vision. Njonde Jackson Kamau, Co-Founder, is a medical student at Kenyatta University providing clinical insight. Dr. Titus Kahiga, a licensed pharmacist and board member of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, ensures regulatory compliance. Dr. John Mwonjoria, a lecturer at Kenyatta University with a PhD in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, brings scientific and academic rigor. We are building a sustainable, revenue-generating venture to ensure our impact lasts. We generate revenue through 5% interest on credit and 10% commission from partner pharmacies, with a clear path to profitability through direct pharmaceutical partnerships that remove the middleman and capture 25–40% margin. We are currently raising $115,000 (KES 15 million) for 10% equity to scale to 10,000 users, expand to 10+ delivery zones, and build our technology platform. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
