About

Nabilah Diedericks is a South African sports development practitioner, entrepreneur, and advocate for women empowerment, youth development, and social transformation through sport. She is the Founder and Director of Finz Aquatics and Fitness Development, an inclusive aquatic centre based in the heart of the Cape Flats, dedicated to using sport as a vehicle for peace, empowerment, and sustainable community development.

A graduate in Sport Management and Business Management, and currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Sport for Development, Nabilah has devoted her life to creating opportunities for communities that have historically been overlooked. Through her work, she has transformed Finz Aquatics from a small initiative with a handful of swimmers into a thriving community organisation serving hundreds of children and adults, with a strong focus on individuals with disabilities and special needs.

At the heart of her work is the belief that sport is far more than competition. Sport is a tool for healing, education, social cohesion, and economic empowerment. She believes that every child and woman, of this world, regardless of background, race, ability, religion, or socio-economic status, deserves access to opportunities that allow them to reach their full potential.

Nabilah is passionate about youth development, women empowerment, and believes that investing in youth and many mothers, this is to create safer communities and stronger futures. Through structured programmes, mentorship, and life-skills development, she uses aquatics to instill confidence, discipline, leadership, and resilience in the next generation.

Women empowerment has played a defining role in shaping the person she has become. Throughout her journey, she encountered rejection, exclusion, and moments where doors were closed. Rather than allowing those experiences to discourage her, she chose to create her own opportunities. She understands that empowerment is not merely about occupying positions of leadership; it is about lifting others as we rise, creating spaces where women can thrive, and proving that resilience and purpose are stronger than adversity.

As a woman leader from the Cape Flats, Nabilah stands as a testament to perseverance and determination. She believes that women have the power to transform families, communities, and industries when given the opportunity to lead. Her journey has taught her that setbacks do not define a person; rather, it is the courage to continue that creates change.

Today, she continues to champion inclusion, advocate for transformation in sport, and empower women and youth to believe in themselves. Her vision is to leave behind more than an organisation or a business; it is to leave behind a legacy of hope, access, and opportunity.

"Many doors were closed to me, but I refused to let rejection define my future. When opportunities did not exist, I created them. When others said it could not be done, I built what my community needed. My purpose has always been bigger than myself. It is about empowering others, creating change, and ensuring that no child, no woman, and no community is left behind."

For Nabilah Diedericks, sport remains a powerful vehicle for peace, transformation, and development, because when communities are empowered, futures are changed.
